Q&A

Where will we meet?

  • Lively Hope offers telehealth appointments using Zoom so you can remain in the privacy of your home.

How long are the appointments?

  • Our first session will take approximately 1-2 hours.  The goal is to jump start your restoration journey. Follow-up sessions are usually one hour every week until healing is well underway.  You will taper to fewer sessions based on your progress.  Think of it this way- if you have a sliver in your hand and you go to a medical facility to have it removed, your expectation is to have it removed immediately.  With biblical counseling, we want to “pull out the slivers” as quickly as possible so you can start healing. 😊

Who will know about my appointment?

  • Lively Hope requires a referral from your pastor if you are a member of a church.  Your information will be kept in strictest confidence unless there is a written signed release of information form.  Confidentiality is limited when there are threats to harm self, others or abuse is occurring.
  • What will the sessions look like?

  • There will be much prayer. Biblical counseling has three stages: truth, turning and transforming.
  • First, you will learn the Biblical truths of your identity, position, and authority in Christ.

After you have learned the foundation key Biblical truths about who you are in Christ, the next stage is to focus on turning your heart. You are guided through a discovery process to identify the strongholds, areas of bondage and the lies our enemy, Satan is using to keep us enslaved. We expose the lies Satan is using, help you understand the truth and close any open doors Satan is using to influence you.  This process is grounded in James 4:7 – “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”  We focus on turning hearts toward cleansing and renewing your mind so you will experience the freedom that is yours in Christ and grow in the grace of God. Processing these strongholds will play a major role in your journey of becoming more and more like Jesus. This process is not the end, but it is the beginning of growth and the start of a lifestyle of freedom in Christ.

Transformation, the final stage, is the maintaining your newfound freedom and putting on the whole armor of God.  This happens outside of counseling. While it doesn’t take long to establish your identity and freedom in Christ, there is no such thing as instant spiritual maturity. Our spiritual growth journey never ends because renewing your mind and conforming to the likeness of Christ is a life-long process. What you have gained must be maintained. The most effective way to maintain intimacy with God and healthy relationships with others is to have a robust prayer life, daily reading of God’s word and to be active in a clear gospel bible believing church.  We need the support of fellow believers and the teaching and preaching found in church.  At the conclusion of counseling, you will be set with a plan to maintain your freedom so you can follow Jesus’ command to be a fruitful disciple and be about ministering to each other.

    What are my next steps?

  • Review the material on the “truth” tab and watch the video featuring Pastor Joseph Brown. Fill out the registration forms then make payment.  Once forms are completed and payment received, you will be provided a link to schedule your first session.
  • What is the fee, and do you accept insurance?

    • Lively Hope Counseling is private pay and does not accept insurance.  If you lack insurance, please reach out to us and we can discuss your options. The average cost per hour is commensurate with most insurance co-payments.
