JESUS

Learn who He is, why He loves you, and how He can transform your life.

The question for every life regarding Jesus Christ that we all must answer was asked by Jesus Himself when He asked this, “But whom say ye that I am?” (Mark 8:27)  The Word of God gives us the knowledge and the wisdom to know who Jesus is and why it is so important for you and I to have a relationship with Him.

JESUS MATTERS

How to have a relationship with God.

We are created by God, in His image. Genesis 1:26 God created humans in the image of God. Note the plural words “us”.  God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit are talking together, a Triune God. We are made as triune beings. 1 Thessalonians 5:23. God designed us in His image, with a spirit, soul and body.

God created humans with an inner core or spirit, designed to connect with God on a spiritual level while we are living in our body on earth.  (1 Corinthians 15:44b). This spiritual part is the “spiritual HEART). When born physically, our pumping organ, the heart is alive in our body, but the spiritual heart is not alive.   Salvation is when the spiritual heart is made alive.  Our spiritual heart is dead in sin (Psalm 90:8, Ephesians 2:5, 1 Peter 2:24). Sin is anything that we have said, done or thought that breaks God’s law. Bad News! We cannot earn salvation by going to church, doing good things for others, or “turning over a new leaf”.  We cannot clean ourselves up and we fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Sin blocks us from a relationship with God and God says there is a penalty for sin (Romans 6:23, 1 Corinthians 15:56.  Good News! God LOVES us, wants us to be in a relationship with Him, and designed a plan for that to happen.  (John 3:16; 1 Peter 1:3).  Jesus, God’s son, came to earth as a human being.  He was crucified, died and was buried to satisfy the penalty of sin. (Hebrews 9:12, Hebrews 10:1 John 4:10). God then used His POWER to raise Jesus from the dead (Colossians 2:12b).  Jesus is the way to restoring our relationship with God.  (2 Corinthian 5:19, Acts 4:12, John 4:16)

In order for our spiritual heart to become alive, we must have a relationship with Jesus and be “born again” or “saved”.  To be saved, we simply believe or trust or place our faith on Jesus and on Him alone. We accept the gift of salvation- His dying for our sins. (Ephesians 2:1 and 8-10, Romans 4:5 and 3:28). Once we accept this gift, the Holy Spirit enters into our spiritual heart, uses the same power that made Jesus alive to make our spiritual heart alive AND permanently seal our spiritual heart. (Ephesians 4:30, Colossians 2:10,13)

What happens after I am saved?

God’s Holy Spirit will transform our soul. God designed humans with a soul.

Soul is made up of three parts:

1. Mind - How We Think

2. Emotions - How We Feel

3. Will - Choices We Make

This transformation is called Sanctification and happens while our physical body is on earth.

We now have:

  • The divine nature of God inside of us 2 Peter 1:4, renewing us (2 Corinthians 4:16)
  • The mind of Christ in us. (Philippians 2:5)
  • The Faith of God inside us, we live by God’s faith not by our faith in God. (Galatians 2:20)
  • Eternal life. (Romans 6:23, John 17:3, 1 John 1:5)
  • Renewal and transformation of the soul.  (Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 5:17)
  • Victory over sin (John 8:32, Romans 8:2, 1 Corinthians 15:57)
